A-Z mine health safety act

The course offers the learner the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the Mine Health Safety Act (MHSA) and applicable regulations. Learners will gain knowledge of duties for employer and employees as well as the tripartite institutions.

Legal liability for mining

The course will provide learners with a better understanding of the concept of legal liability within the mining sector, and how legislation regulates and enforces it.

Hazard identification and risk management (HIRA) for mining

This practical course will provide learners with the necessary tools and skills to enable them to carry out hazard identification and risk assessments in the workplace. The aim of the course is to enable responsible and informed contributions to the health and safety effort in the workplace.

SAMTRAC for mining

On completion of this course, the successful learner will be able to develop and implement an HSE management system in accordance with the requirements of CMB001.

Incident investigation level 3 for mining

This course enables learners to conduct investigations into mining workplace incidents. The competency includes all the activities required to successfully conduct incident investigations and assessments.

SAMTRAC for mining bridging

On completion of this course the successful learner will understand HSE legislative and operational control requirements within a mining environment.

Introduction to SAMTRAC for
mining

On completion of this course the learner will have the ability to apply the techniques for hazard identification and risk assessment, as well as understand HSE management system requirements and procedures.

SHE representative for mining

Learners will understand the objectives and statutory requirements pertaining to health and safety in the workplace. The course also explains the rights, powers, functions and duties of the workplace health and safety representative, and how any errant HSE issues should be handled. Learners will be able to participate in the HSE structures and measure these activities according to HSE requirements.
